No one needs a vacation more than the person who just had one

So much trip, so little time. St. Louis was beautiful! First we went to the City Museum (always an uplifting experience). Then there was the hummingbird banding, games, the Onondaga caves, games, fireworks under the Arch, games, Live Off the Levee, and then... the infamous canoe trip. Maggie Thatcher wasn't kidding when she said "You may have to fight a battle more than once to win." Phew, how I sympathize with King Pyrrhus.

We stayed in a hotel in downtown St. Louis, a couple of blocks from the Arch. We went to the levee, and it was underwater, so we opted to not take our Chevy there. In between the live-music-no-longer-at-the-levee and the fireworks, we did some major hotel swimming, after which we participated in some major hotel bed crashing.

Naturally, as the airlines hate my guts, we were two hours late getting home. But that goes without saying, and Shem is finally accepting that as part and parcel of traveling (or travelling -- why do they allow two different spellings???) with me.

Signing off today with a big shout out to old lady Keck! Good on ya! It's really a shame your kid couldn't turn out more like you in his tastes. For instance, we played Bohnanza and loved it.
